Leticia Ferrer traveled all seven continents and six oceans to get in the path of every total solar eclipse since 1998, including two trips to Antarctica, one a flight in 2003 and one last in November 2021. She is one of the lucky few to catch the 2020 eclipse during the pandemic, granted a special “eclipse” visa by Argentina for the viewing of the Total Solar Eclipse. After standing in the path of 20 Total Solar Eclipses, she is ecstatic that her passion is coming home once again to the USA, and even better to Texas on April 08, 2024.
This is the first Total Solar Eclipse to cross the USA since the August 21, 2017, event. The April 08, 2024, Total Solar Eclipse is the first “big” Total Solar Eclipse to cross Texas since July 29, 1878, in addition, parts of Texas are the crossroads of the Annular eclipse of October 14, 2023, and Total Solar Eclipse 2024.
She is devoting her time this year to excite, inform, and prepare communities to experience this wonderful celestial event. She wants the 17 million plus Texans in the Path of Totality to step outside to experience this event occurring between 1-2 pm across the state.
To prepare communities, for the August 21, 2017 eclipse, she did a Tedx presentations encouraging everyone to the “Get in the Path”. She enjoyed that eclipse with 22 friends and family in eastern Oregon.
In 2022, she published her book Texas Solar Eclipses, to excite, inform, and prepare her fellow Texas about the upcoming Annular and Total Solar Eclipses and describe events around the past July 29, 1878 Total Solar Eclipse that crossed Texas. In November of 2023, she launched an Eclipse podcast to continue her mission to excite, inform, and prepare communities about eclipses.
